How To Get Friends and Family To Take Good Photos Of You

I joke a lot about how I am always the person that annoyingly begs friends and family to take my photos.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let's be real, stoping in the middle of what you're doing or carving out a special time to have a full on photoshoot is inconvenient, awkward and can leave both parties feeling frustrated. Especially when the person I ask to help me isn't interested in photography or creating content.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Good news is, with a little coaching, encouragement, and practice it gets easier. 👌

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here are some tips I have learned to help make the process more enjoyable for everyone involved so that I always end up with the perfect Insta worthy shot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

âš¡Provide examples in advance of the type of photo I want to take. Example: "Look at this photo. I want to try to recreate this shot."

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

âš¡Frame the shot. Take a reference photo on your camera and let the person know that this is what you want in the frame.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

âš¡Take a photo with your photographer as the model. Do exactly what you want them to do as the photographer so that they can learn by example.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚡Be supportive and encouraging! Do what you can to make your photographer feel more comfortable. Don’t forget to say THANK YOU!

Most of all remember, practice makes perfect. So be patient and eventually you'll get those angles right on the first try!

P.S. This photo was taken by my Sister and I absolutely love how it turned out.
