What To Do When You Feel Like The Instagram Algorithm Is Against You

Raise your hand if you feel like you’ve been personally victimized by the Instagram algorithm 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Speaking from personal experience, I know how incredibly discouraging it can feel when content that I’ve poured my heart in soul into doesn’t perform as well as I thought it would. And you guessed it, the algorithm is the one to blame every time.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’ve ever blamed the algorithm for poor post performance or it’s constantly working against you, here are a few things you can do to change it. ✨ THE LAST TIP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ⬇️

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚡️ Evaluate your content. Are you posting intentionally or are you posting because you feel like you have to post to keep up appearances?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚡️ Use insights. Do a deep dive and try to figure out what content is working for you and what isn’t based on the numbers. Take note of when you’re posting, post formats, post topics, etc and use this info to draw conclusions about how you may need to change your content strategy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⚡️ Change your mindset. The best advice I’ve seen on this topic came from @jera.bean about changing the way you think about post performance. Forget about the number you have in your head that equates to a “successful” post. Stop focusing on the likes you haven’t received and instead recognize the likes and engagement you have received!
